Makran : Gwadar is likely to get another 100 MW of electricity from Iran

This was disclosed by Executive Engineer of High Transmission Line Zafar Ali in a meeting
with Director General of Gwadar Development Authority Mujibur Rehman Qambrani.
The coastal district of Gwadar in Baluchistan's Makran Division will be connected to the
under-construction Pakistan-Iran transmission line by March this year, after which it will
be supplied with additional 100 MW of electricity from Iran.
This was disclosed by Executive Engineer of High Transmission Line Zafar Ali in a meeting
with Director General of Gwadar Development Authority Mujibur Rehman Qambrani.
He briefed the official of Gwadar Development Authority about the progress on the under-
construction Pak-Iran transmission line and said that the Iranian side transmission line is
expected to be completed by March while the work on Basima-Panjgur transmission line is
expected to be completed by June. .
Executive Engineer Zafar Ali said that the construction of grade station in Phalan region of
Iran and Jiwani in Pakistan is also in progress, adding that 30 km line will also be laid.
He further said that after the completion of the work on the transmission line and grid
stations, additional 100 MW electricity from Iran will be added to the existing system of
Gwadar.
Director General Gwadar Development Authority Qambarani said that the supply of 100 MW of
additional power will not only provide 24-hour power supply to the port city, but also provide
power supply to the Gwadar Industrial Estate to function fully.
He hoped that the supply of additional electricity would meet the electricity requirement of
the entire Makran division.
Mujibur Rahman Qambrani said that the water supply, education, health and electricity supply
projects are in the final stage of completion.
